July 7- This weeks fishing report

Fishing around Cape Point has been a lot slower this week than the previous week! Boats managed to get out a few days and most of the yellowtail was caught after lunch time mostly on Rocky Bank. A few snoek also put in an appearance on Thursday also on Rocky Bank.

We spent some time Reef fishing various areas along the western side of the bay, there has been a lot of young cape bream around destroying baits as quick as they dropped, this could be why its been very difficult to catch Red Fish. One area we fished we did also encounter a lot of small mackerel which is very unusual for this time of the year.

Chokka fishing has been very slow around simonstown which is to be expected this time of the year.

There are still a couple of die hards that have gone out to look for tuna, we got reports of one boat that managed to land a nice Bluefin.

On Thursday when the South Easterly wind dropped the guys on the beach managed to get some very nice Kob, unfortunately these areas are not easily accessible for boats with the winter swell.

This weekend is not looking good for a chance to get out on the water, we can only hope that this storm will stir things up and make the fish nice and hungry.

Have a good weekend everyone!
